Jubilee Connor is a scientific illustrator based in Southern Ontario with a passion for fostering creative community. Her artworks often develop out of environmental themes such as industrial pollution, influenced by her employment with the Canadian Federal Carbon Markets. To masterfully portray her themes, Jubilee experiments with alternative materials such as steel, inks made from local fungi and flora, rust, and asphalt.
While in her undergraduate degree majoring in art and minoring in biology, she combined her love of science and art into a career path. Jubilee began to delve deeper into this passion by creating field journals and detailed digital paintings of anatomy and botanicals while broadening her understanding of the profession by founding the Scientific Illustration Network, a group dedicated to sharing resources and answering aspiring sci-artist’s questions.
